Neal Maupay has revealed that Brentford have not triggered an option to make his loan move from Everton permanent.

It was his second spell with the Bees and the Frenchman scored six Premier League goals in 29 games.

The 27-year-old joined the Toffees from Brighton in August 2022, signing a three-year contract.

Speaking to talkSPORT Breakfast, Maupay spoke about his future: “I think it's quite simple. I was on loan at Brentford last season. They had an option but they haven't taken it up yet.

“So they had to wait until the end of June and then I'll be back next week at Everton.”

Whichever club he ends up with next season, he is sure to find rivals wherever he goes.
