Jack Wilshere turns to Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah as he makes big announcement to leave wife joking about 'glass ankles'
Jack Wilshere was alongside four-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Mo Farah to announce a new challenge.
He former midfielder He currently works in his children's club Arsenal as head coach of his under-18 team.
Wilshere was unable to reach his full potential during his playing career with the Gunners due to an unfortunate series of injury problems.
However, the 32-year-old is embarking on a new quest and undertook his instagram account to reveal the news after teasing it on talkSPORT Drive the day before.
In a video on Friday, Wilshere announced that he will run in the next London Marathon, which will take place in April 2025.
“Okay guys, I have an announcement.” he said at Arsenal's training ground in London Colney. “It's not like me to do this kind of thing, but it's important.
“I'm taking part in the 2025 London Marathon for the British Heart Foundation. But don't worry, because I've called in an expert to help me.”
Former distance runner farahwho won Olympic gold medals in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, appeared in the video.
“Any advice, Mo?” Wilshere asked the Arsenal fan, who said: “Yes Jack, we've got this. It's all for charity and I think he's working, you can enjoy it and the result will be incredible.”
“What a legend,” Wilshere replied as Farah cheered him on with a 'Go Jack!', before adding: “Yeah guys. So I'm doing it for the British Heart Foundation.”
“I want to try to make a difference, obviously with what we went through as a family, but also with what other families are going through, if I can make a difference.
“It's going to be difficult, before the 'glass ankles' jokes start, my lady beat you to it. I'm going to have a hard time, I know, but I'm doing it. I need your help though. kind.”

In the caption of his video, Wilshere referenced why he will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation charity.
“As some of you may know, our little Siena had open heart surgery earlier this year, so the charity means a lot to our family,” she explained.
“My wife Andriani and I are proud to be ambassadors for such an incredible charity and look forward to helping other families who have been affected in the same way we have.”
More than 54,000 people ran the London Marathon earlier this year, and a similar number are sure to do so in 2025.
Wilshere will be one of those completing the 26.2 mile ride around the English capital to help raise funds for an incredible cause.
talkSPORT co-host Andy Goldstein was quick to wish Wilshere good luck, as he said in the comments: “Carry on, son.”
Former Arsenal and England teammate Theo Walcott sent a message: “Love this.”
Meanwhile, former Gunners player and current Birmingham star Krystian Bielik said: “What a guy! All the best!”
