Tuesday was an important day for Mallorca as they booked their place in a fourth final of the Copa del Rey after defeating Real Sociedad on penalties at Reale Arena. Javier Aguirre was the mastermind of this success, and the Mexican coach aimed for his first trophy in Spanish football.

Aside from the Cup race, it hasn't been an easy season for Mallorca, who currently sit 16th in La Liga, and just six points clear of the relegation zone. However, the club's owners want to agree a new contract with Aguirre, whose current one-year deal expires in the summer.

Brand they reported that the talks between Majorca and Aguirre are currently on hold. The 65-year-old, who has been at the club for nearly two years, is likely to decide his future closer to the end of the season, but the decision is entirely in his hands as Los Bermellones want him stay – and understand so.
