talkSPORT understands that former first-choice left-back Ben Chilwell has been Offered to Manchester Unitedwhile £50m player Raheem Sterling has been stripped of his squadron number and has been left out of Chelsea's games so far this season.

Former England international Jenas hosted talkSPORT Drive on Thursday and revealed he had been in Chilwell and Sterling's position when he played for Spurs.

He told co-presenter Jermaine Pennant: “Mine[the Spurs exit]was that bad.

“Spurs had built this new training facility and I was there for about six months and I thought, 'this place is absolutely stunning, it's beautiful'.

“But what happened when you came through reception was that at that time Andre Villas-Boas had just joined the club. I did the whole pre-season.

“My Achilles wasn’t at its best, to be honest. I wasn’t anywhere near my best, but I obviously thought I’d be given a bit of time to get up to speed and maybe by Christmas I could fight for my place in the team.”

But unfortunately for Jenas, things didn't turn out that way.

He continued: “I literally walked through the door, and we used to have this kind of turnstile that had a fingerprint ID, so you put your thumb on it, it turned and you went in.

“And I put my thumb on it and it just went (mistake sound). It turned red! So I said 'oh, wipe my thumb a little bit', it just turned red.

“I looked at the people at the front desk and they all put their heads down, they all ran for cover. No one spoke to me or said, ‘Look, this isn’t going to happen,’ or anything like that.

“It was a very tough fight, but that's how things are, unfortunately, football is a business and that's what happens.”
