Jim White stuns talkSPORT studio with three-figure bet on Nottingham Forest to win Premier League title
Jim White has put his money where his mouth is and backed Nottingham Forest to win the Premier League.
The Reds are second in the table and six points behind leaders Liverpool after the 1-1 draw between the two teams at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
Since narrowly surviving relegation to the Championship last season, Forest have been a surprise this season, leading to cries of 'Coach of the Year' Nuno Holy Spirit.
Forest They are unbeaten in seven games in the Premier League and came into the clash with Liverpool having won six in a row.
In their last seven games, they have scored just four goals, keeping an incredible four clean sheets.
It won't be until February 23 when they face a top-six club, and Forest fans will be hoping to keep picking up points to keep the pressure on Liverpool and their fellow contenders. Arsenal.
And as fans dare to dream of a first top-level title since 1978, White placed a £100 bet with the talkSPORT co-host. Simon Jordan that Forest will end their 45-year wait for league glory.
Discussing the title race, White said: “All the talk is, 'Can Forest do it?' They are there, they are fighting.
“Simon Jordan doesn't think they can do it, and neither does Danny (Murphy). We'd love for them to do it.”
Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan then raised the question of whether White really believes he will get his hands on the coveted trophy in May.
To which White remarked: “I think they have a good chance of winning the league.
“I'm not Mystic Meg, so I can't tell you right now, 'Yes, they're going to win.' I think they have an excellent chance of winning the league title.”
Looking to put his money where his mouth is, Jordan turned to Murphy and said, “We should make him bet.”
“Look how deep their conviction and belief system is.
“I'll make a bet that they won't win the league and I'm willing to back it with cash.”
When White asked him how much money he was willing to bet, Jordan responded, “Even money. I'll bet you a certain amount of money, and whoever wins, (the money) will go to a particular charity.”
Murphy stepped in and insisted that Jordan has to give White good odds, saying, “You can't make a split bet. It's an outside bet.”
To which Jordan then joked: “Why do you get involved then? Or do you keep your hand firmly in your pocket?”
Still interested in how much money would be at stake, White, joking that he hopes it's not too much, said: “Danny has to move house. And I have a dodgy washing machine.
“But what are we talking about? Are we talking double digits? Do I mean £50 or something?”
Jordan responded with a bet of £100, prompting a shocked White to say: “£100!”
That's when White sent out a jocular, light-hearted plea to everyone connected with Forest to ensure they are the ones to get the title.
He said: “Nottingham Forest, players, Mr (Evangelos) Marinakis (forest owner), if you are listening this morning.
“I'm risking £100 against Simon Templar's £100, saying Nottingham Forest will win the Premier League.
“Mr Templar, also known as Simon Jordan, says presumably Liverpool.”
But Jordan was quick to point out that he backs any other team to come out on top instead of Forest.
He stated: “I'm saying Nottingham Forest won't win the Premier League.”
Although he stressed that he hoped Forest would complete a fairytale story by beating their rivals to the trophy.
Jordan simply said: “Actually, I would (want them to win the title). I think it's a great club.”
