Jonathan Tah now considering extending his contract at Bayer Leverkusen

kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is now reconsidering his options and could extend his contract at the BayArena.

This summer, Tah has constantly been linked with a move to Bayern Munich but now the 28-year-old is reconsidering his options after his dream move to the Allianz was ‘shattered’ after Bayern pulled out of the deal for Tah.

As Tah’s contract expires at the end of the season, this now opens the door for an extension which could benefit both Leverkusen and Tah. For Leverkusen, it is likely that a release clause worth around €15m would be asserted into the contract meaning they will not risk losing Tah on a free next summer.

While for Tah, he would likely receive a raise in his salary and would also have the assurance in case he suffered a bad injury this season which could derail his chances of a lucrative move for free next summer. On top of this, there is no guarantee that clubs will still be interested in Tah next summer.
