As we approach the end of the September international break, Bild reports that Julian Nagelsmann is already looking at new players to call up for October’s international break.
For previously established players such as Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka it will be difficult to take part in October. Sané is recovering from a pubic bone injury, although he is still in Nagelsmann’s plans, it may be difficult for him to earn a starting place if the team continues to perform at its current level.
Gnarby and Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt are in the same boat. Both were not part of the EURO 2024 squad but are on the upward trend in their performances. However, they will have to be performing better than the likes of Chris Führich, Deniz Undav and Maximilian Beier says the tabloid. While Goretzka has no immediate future in the squad as he does not have a regular place at Bayern Munich and doesn’t fit into the Germany squad not only due to his playing profile but also he could dampen the atmosphere. Robin Koch and Emre Can could also be omitted come October.
There are already players in the wings who could be featured next month. Heidenheim’s Paul Wanner could be called up as Germany battle Austria for his international future. Brajan Gruda and Rocco Reitz could become more permanent features after they helped the team train ahead of EURO 2024. While Karim Adeyemi could be brought back into the fold as he has lately been with the under-21s.
The one youngster who could be given a chance is Tim Kleindienst. The Borussia Mönchengladbach striker has started the season strongly with two goals and one assist in the opening two Bundesliga games. If he continues with this form he could feature in October.
