Sky Germany and Bild both report that Kaiserslautern have rejected a bid from Union Berlin for striker Ragnar Ache as he is too important to the squad.
The bid was said to be worth between €3-4m and was flat-out rejected by Die Rote Teufel. Ache joined Kaiserslautern last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt for €1.5m. In his first season at the Fritz Walter Stadion, the 26-year-old scored 16 goals in 26 games as Kaiserslautern avoided relegation, Ache then scored on his return from injury this season.
If Ache is to leave Kaiserslautern, then they will be demanding a high transfer fee for the striker, way more than the amount offered as they look for a replacement.
Since the departure of Kevin Behrens and Sheraldo Becker, Union has struggled to at the striker position. January signings Chris Bedia and Yorbe Vertessen were a mixed bag. Last summer’s arrivals Benedict Hollerbach and Kevin Volland were inconsistent throughout the season as Die Eisernen avoided relegation.
