Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer.

Iheanacho, 27, has signed a two-year contract with the La Liga club with the option of an additional 12 months.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that the Nigeria international was in Spain to complete his medical with the seven-time Europa League winners following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City.

The former Manchester City forward has been signed as a replacement for Youssef En-Nesyri after the Morocco international joined Fenerbahce earlier this month.

Iheanacho played just half of Leicester’s 46 league matches last term as the club won promotion back to the Premier League, with Jamie Vardy the first-choice starting striker. He scored six goals and provided three assists in 26 games last season, registering 61 goals and 34 assists in 232 appearances in total.

He becomes Sevilla’s second striker signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of Peque, a former Spain youth international, from Racing Santander.

Iheanacho joined Leicester from Manchester City for £25million in 2017.

Prior to that, he enjoyed a three-year spell at the Etihad, scoring 21 goals in 64 appearances and helping the club to win the League Cup in 2016.

Sevilla finished 14th in La Liga last season and will not participate in European football for the 2024-25 campaign.
