Kieran Tierney has no idea what the future holds for him at Arsenal after being loaned to Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old quickly became a fan favorite in the Emirates following his £25m arrival from Celtic in 2019.
But left side lost his place in the starting eleven to Oleksandr Zinchenko last season due to his inability to play Mikel ArtetaThe role reversed.
Takehiro Tomiyasu was also preferred at times ahead of the Scot, and with Jakub Kiwior and Jurrien Timber also incorporated, the decision was made to send Tierney to Spain.
And it remains to be seen whether Tierney, who still has two years left on his contract in north London, will rejoin the team this summer.
Even the defender is in the dark, as he insisted William Saliba He is the only player loaned by Arteta to return as a starter.
In an interview that will be broadcast with White and Jordan on talkSPORT, Tierney spoke about whether the door will be opened for him again at Arsenal. “You never know in football,” he told Jim White.
“It's probably quite rare for it to happen when you come back from a loan.
“Of course you have circumstances like Saliba when they just come back and I don't think he's been out of the team since – he hasn't been on the bench since.
“But maybe it's a little different for someone who's played four years and is coming back (to the team).
“But you never know, football is a crazy place, so let's see what happens.”
Tierney also believes his departure was the right decision for both him and the club as they look to rediscover their form after falling down the pecking order.
Last season, he was limited to just six Premier League starts, compared to 22 the previous season in what was a season marred by injuries.
When asked what led to him being loaned, he commented: “It's hard to put my finger on it.
“But the way things developed at Arsenal, the way the team was going and what happened last season with playing minutes.
“It probably worked out better for both parties that I got out there, got some new experience, got some playing time.
“And when you don't play, you lose a little bit of confidence, so to come here and get it back has been fantastic.”
