jUrgen Klopp is a special coach. He is pure fire on the sidelines, with a ruthless character in games, but all heart off the field of play. Whenever he can, he tries to help others. A few years ago, his response to a letter sent to him by an 11-year-old boy went viral. He has now made a touching gesture to a colleague.

Sven-Goran Eriksson, 75 years old and with a long and brilliant career in several countries, admitted in an interview this week that he is very sick with cancer and that the prognosis is that he has about 12 months to live. “At best, I have a year left. At worst, a little less,” he said in an interview with public broadcaster Radio Sweden.

The coach also recognized that he had something pending in his career, a wish that he could never fulfill.

“I'm a Liverpool fan so I always wanted to be their manager and that's not going to happen, but I'm still a Liverpool fan,” he said.

A wonderful day

Eriksson mentioned those comments to Klopp and he responded duly. “Unfortunately I don't know him personally. I heard for the first time about his admiration or love for Liverpool and that he was a supporter of it all his life,” he said.

“Sven, you are invited from the bottom of all our hearts to come here and you can have my office, you can run a session if you want. That's no problem.

“Open arms. Come here and let's have a great few hours together.”
