- Crystal Palace Vs. Aston Villa – Sun, May 19th 2024, 16:00
Ezri Konsa had mixed emotions after Aston Villa ended a fine season with a loss at Crystal Palace.
The England international and the rest of the defence pride themselves on keeping clean sheets, so conceding five in south London stung.
However, Konsa was also able to see the positives after Villa secured a top-four finish with their consistent displays throughout the Premier League season.
“We’re very disappointed,” he said.
“As a defender, you don’t want to concede any goals at all let alone five. We know that Crystal Palace have been on a great run of form, so we knew it was going to be tough today.
“We lost today and it wasn’t the way we wanted to finish the season, but it’s been a great season and we’ve enjoyed every moment of it.
“We’ve got Champions League football, we’ll enjoy the break and then it’s go time again.”
It’s been a historic season for Villa, who will play in Europe’s premier competition for the first time since 1982/83.
The achievement marks a new high point in Konsa’s five-year journey with the club, and he’s relishing the next chapter.
He said: “It’s really exciting and something that I’m looking forward to very much.
“I’ve never played Champions League football before and it’s our first time in 42 years as a club, so we can all look forward to next season.
“I’ve been here five seasons now and the last two seasons have been really exciting.
“We’ve progressed really well under the boss and hopefully we can continue that.”
