- Aston Villa Vs. Leicester City – Sat, Jan 4th 2025, 15:00
Ezri Konsa insists Aston Villa must be wary of the threat visitors Leicester City pose, ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash.
Unai Emery’s side open up 2025 at Villa Park against the Foxes, looking to return to winning ways after a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.
And, despite Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side sitting 19th in the table, Konsa has called for no complacency on Villa’s part, and focus throughout the 90 minutes.
He said: “Every game in the Premier League is hard.
“We can’t go into tomorrow’s game thinking it’s going to be a walk in the park.
“We have to be ready, we have to be focused throughout the 90 minutes, [and] stick to our gameplan.
“It’s been tough for Leicester, but they have very good players, so we have to be wary of that and remain focused throughout the 90 minutes.”
Assessing Villa’s performance more generally over the first half of the season, the England international admits there is still work to be done.
Konsa explained how the goal for he and his teammates is to emulate last season’s success, and how there are positive signs to try and harness heading into 2025.
“We’ve still got a long season ahead and we want to finish as high as possible, try and achieve what we did last season, and it’s still possible,” the 27-year-old added.
“We’re trying to be consistent. That’s something we’re still trying to go.
“We’re still learning as well, under the boss. There are still new things that he wants to implement with us.
“We’re still in a good position. The table is really tight this season, [and] it’s important for us to remain positive. There’s still a long way to go.
“We’ve only lost one game at home this season which is good. We’re going into tomorrow’s game feeling confident about it.”
