Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé and his representatives have reportedly explored measures to Arsenal and Liverpoolaccording to a report by Independent.
The 25-year-old French international will leave PSG for free transfer at the end of the season and was weighing his options.
Mbappé was widely expected to join real MadridHowever, the Independent claim his move to the Bernabeu has hit an “obstacle” with the Spaniard unwilling to meet his wage demands.
The 2018 World Cup winner is demanding substantial salaries and the two sides have yet to reach an agreement. Real Madrid's offer is not satisfactory for the player and his representatives.
The newspaper says that Mbappé's team have “explored” possible moves to Arsenal and Liverpool, indicating that the player is open to a sensational move by first division. However, neither Arsenal nor Liverpool are willing to break their salary structure to sign Mbappé.
The Frenchman is a world-class player and could transform any team. He is versatile enough to operate anywhere among the front three and will add goals and creativity to any team. Mbappé has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season and has provided seven assists along the way.
Arsenal and Liverpool cannot afford Mbappé
Signing a player of his caliber would be a huge coup for clubs like Arsenal or Liverpool as he is a true superstar. However, they can't risk jeopardizing the team's chemistry by offering him substantially higher salaries than their other key players.
In theory, it would be a massive improvement in Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal, who have only scored four league goals this season. Someone like Mbappé would transform Arsenal into a title-winning team.
At Liverpool he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has been linked with a move away from Anfield at the end of the season and Mbappe would be a sensational replacement.
But it is fair to assume that the French international will probably reach an agreement with Real Madrid at some point. Very few clubs can afford his salary and none are as iconic as Real Madrid.
