Sky Germany and The Athletic reports that Leeds United are interested in bringing Freiburg forward Roland Sallai to England but face competition from France.
The Hungarian is interested in a move away from the Black Forest and has attracted interest from Leeds as well as an unnamed Ligue 1 side. Sallai has one year left on his contract at Freiburg meaning this is the last time that they will be able to sell him for a decent fee.
Sallai has been a reliable player for Freiburg since joining from Apoel Nicosia in 2018. The 27-year-old has played 162 times scoring 27 as Freiburg have played in the Europa League as well as reached the DFB Pokal final, where he provided the assist for Freiburg’s goal in the final.
The arrival of Eren Dinkci in the summer means that if Sallai is to leave the club in the summer then there would be no need to find a replacement for him, Dinkci offers a quicker and more direct option than the Hungarian.
