Lisandro Martínez angers Manchester United fans with a photo of Alexis Mac Allister days after the defeat against Liverpool
Manchester United fans have expressed their fury at Lisandro Martinez after seeing the defender's latest Instagram post.
The Argentine was part of the United team that was fully Defeated 3-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.
Martinez was in the thick of the action and was booked for a foul on Dominik Szoboszlai, leading to a verbal confrontation with the Reds captain. Virgil van Dijk.
Two goals from Luis Diaz and another from Mo Salah left United comfortably rested, leaving Erik ten Hag's side with just three points from their first three league games and mired in 14th place.
Martinez has become a fan favourite during his time at Old Trafford, but that could all change after angering supporters following Sunday's defeat.
A day after losing to their bitter rivals, the world champion took to Instagram to share a picture of himself joining the Argentina national team ahead of their World Cup qualifying double-header against Chile and Colombia.
He posted two photos, one of which was a snap of him alongside Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister.
His choice of photograph angered many United fans, who felt the image was inappropriate, with Sunday's calamity still so raw.
One fan wrote: “The guy just beat us 3-0 bro don't post a pic with him the next day.”
Another added: “What is this guy doing? Everyone is Manchester United Fans and owners are furious and you have the audacity to do this?
A third fan replied: “Licha, I love you so much, but that’s not all, man!”
Another wrote: “Oh God… I don’t care at all!”
One last user wrote: “Too soon bro.”
With two weeks to let things cool down, Martinez will hope the anger of United fans has died down before Ten Hag's side head to Southampton on September 14th.
The games are coming one after another for United and for Ten Hag, who is feeling the pressure after a disappointing start to the season.
Defeats at Brighton and at home to Liverpool followed an opening-day win over Fulham.
Complicated trips to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa await, with a home game against Tottenham in between.
