England reached the Euro 2024 final in the most dramatic fashion as Ollie Watkins‘ 90th minute goal helped them to beat the Netherlands 2-1 in Dortmund.
Despite a much-improved display on Wednesday night, it felt like the Three Lions were set to go to extra time for the third successive knockout game at the tournament until the Aston Villa star’s last-gasp intervention.
The victory was a vindication for the much-maligned Gareth Southgate and his side are now set to take on Spain in Sunday’s final in Berlin.
And, in the the latest episode of Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off Euros Daily podcast, Ian Ladyman, Craig Hope and Mike Keegan discussed England’s brilliant performance that has them on the cusp of immortality.
Hope spoke about how the ‘brilliant’ Three Lions’ stars finally played ‘like the Premier League players they are’, while Ladyman admitted he ‘didn’t see this performance coming’ and thought England would ‘muddle through’ to the final.
The jubilant trio discuss the Three Lions’ chances of glory, while they also covered referee Felix Zwayer’s performance after England were perhaps lucky to be awarded a first half penalty.
