Liverpool (4-3-3)
Caoimhin Kelleher Another key contribution when it comes to spreading the word well to refute Foden. He got away with hitting the same player. 7/10
Conor Bradley They started strong, defending bravely and finding openings in attack in the first half, before fading. 6
Jarell Quansah A confident display from the 21-year-old. He warned of the danger and helped keep Haaland and Álvarez calm. 7
Virgil van Dijk He marshalled an inexperienced defense superbly and frustrated Foden, Haaland and De Bruyne with perfect interceptions. 8
Joe Gomez He recovered well after a torrid start against Foden. Much stronger and sharper in the second half, and more effective as a right back. 7
Alexis Mac Allister Always positive and orderly and hungry, a display one might expect from a Guardiola midfielder. 9
Endo Wataru At its best when City threatened to take the lead. He recovered numerous times and frustrated De Bruyne. 8
Dominik Szoboszlai It was a big ask to start for the first time in six weeks in a game of this intensity and it showed. 6
Harvey Elliott He won't get the plaudits, but his tenacity, versatility and industry were very important in limiting City. 7
Darwin N.unez He pounced to win the penalty, but otherwise was on the sidelines. He is frequently offside and is surprised to be substituted. 7
Luis Diaz The pace of work and deception deserve praise, but missed three great opportunities in quick succession to make a difference. 6
Substitutes: mohamed Salah (for Szoboszlai 60) Troubled City when he entered, but lacked the wit to torment them again. 6
Andy Robertson (for Bradley 60) Improved Liverpool's balance and threat from the left. 6
Cody Gakpo (for Núñez 76) Little chance of making an impression. 5
Manchester City (4-1-4-1)
Ederson Slow to react to Núñez's pace due to the penalty and injured in the process. It could be a big mistake. 6
Kyle Walker His mental and foot speed allowed him to thwart several Liverpool attacks. He overcame several deliveries. 7
Juan Piedras Polishing in central defense, along with Rodri in the center of the field and facing goal. An outstanding contribution. 9
Manuel Akanji He enjoyed the physical battle with Núñez and the command in the air. He gave Stones the freedom to roam. 8
Nathan Ake He ruined a solid performance with the poor back pass that cost his team and the goalkeeper the lead. 6
Rodri He controlled the pace of the first half, but was cautioned near the break and had less influence afterwards. 8
Phil Foden He found the openings but not the final product to repeat his Heroisms in the Manchester derby. What a first touch. 7
Kevin De Bruyne I'm not happy about it being taken down, but I can't have any complaints after a wasteful display. “Later we were better,” Guardiola said, pointedly. 6
Bernard Silva He sacrificed his creative talent to improve City's control of central midfield. He shook in the second half but improved outside. 6
Julian Alvarez He had plenty of opportunities to damage the Liverpool defense but lacked conviction. Replaced by the more effective Jérémy Doku. 6
Erling Haaland The great confrontation with Van Dijk did not materialize. Hungry for opportunities and, as a result, subdued. 6
Substitutes: Stefan Ortega (for Ederson 56) Minimized potential disruption with assured performance. 7
Jeremy Doku (for Álvarez 69) City's pace on the counterattack and general threat improved. Bad luck not to win it. 7
Matthew Kovacic (for De Bruyne 69) Helped City regain the degree of control they had lost at the start of the second half. 7
