Liverpool and Tottenham According to a recent Spanish report, Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapié towards the end of this window.

The Reds appear to be looking to sign a new centre-back following the departure of Joel Matip, having been linked with a number of names in recent weeks.

Goncalo Inacio has been suggested as a potential option, but Hincapié is also apparently on the radar. The Ecuadorian was linked with a move to Anfield last time out. transfer windows, but the Merseyside club did not step up their efforts to sign him.

The move therefore never materialised and it now remains to be seen whether Arne Slot's side look to buy him before next week's deadline.

According to a recent Spanish report (via Team talk), Liverpool are interested in signing the South American and the defender could be tempted to move away from Leverkusen to accept a new challenge in his career.

According to the report, the German champions are interested in keeping their star but could change their stance if they receive an offer of around £50m. Liverpool will therefore have to shell out a considerable sum to lure him to Anfield this summer.

However, it has been reported that Tottenham are also considering signing Hincapié and along with them, Atletico Madrid are also planning a last-minute move for him.

Ange Postecoglou likes to use a left-footed centre-back on the left side of defence, but currently has Micky van de Ven as his only left-footed centre-back. Therefore, signing a new defender to support the Dutch international would be the right decision.

Hincapié is a versatile player, as he is comfortable in both the centre-back and left-back positions. He is fast, comfortable coming out from the back, efficient in his defensive contributions and also reads the game well.

He could therefore be a solid acquisition for Liverpool or Tottenham if either club buys him. However, it will be interesting to see if the north London club or the Merseyside club ultimately opt to formalise their interest in signing the South American before this transfer window ends.
