Liverpool have announced Arne Slot as their new manager, replacing the legendary Jurgen Klopp.
The Dutchman arrives from Feyenoord on what is understood to be a three-year contract. He will formally take office on June 1.
Slot comes with a pedigree that guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2022/23 season.
He has also been named Eredivisie coach of the year on two occasions.
However, this will be a big step forward for the 45-year-old as he takes the reins of what is one of the most important jobs in football.
He succeeds one of the great managers in Liverpool's illustrious history, with Klopp restoring his giant status during his nine years at Anfield.
Klopp's first trophy saw Liverpool win the Champions League in the 2018/19 season before winning the club's first Premier League title the following campaign.
Also on Klopp's honors board for Liverpool are two Carabao Cups, including one this season, as well as an FA Cup in the 2021/22 season.
But despite any pressure Slot may feel ahead of his new job, his appointment appears to have had Klopp's blessing.
During his farewell speech after Liverpool's victory over Wolves on Sunday, Klopp had the fans inside Anfield serenade Slot with a song.
Liverpool finished the season in third place, as well as the Carabao Cup, meaning they returned to the Champions League after a season in which they had to settle for the Europa League.
Slot takes over as head coach, the first in Liverpool's 132-year history.
As well as guiding Feyenoord to the Dutch championship, Slot oversaw their triumph in the KNVB Cup in April, where they beat NEC Nijmegen in the final.
Before joining Feyenoord, Slot was in charge of AZ Alkmaar and led them to second place in the 2019/20 season, where they lost out to Ajax in a season that was canceled due to the COVID pandemic.
