Liverpool Valencia are 'seriously considering' signing Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili this summer, according to Fabricius Romano.
Of the 39 goalkeepers who featured in La Liga last season, Mamardashvili's 108 saves put him sixth in the league for most saves. He was also one of Georgia's standout performers in their first ever European Championship appearance and it's no surprise that the Valencia goalkeeper is attracting interest from a number of top clubs.
According RomanLiverpool have opened talks to sign the 23-year-old this summer but if they complete a deal the Reds plan to send him out on loan with Alisson Becker set to continue as No.1 next season.
Football transfer The pundit also adds that the Georgian goalkeeper is interested in moving to Anfield and it is Liverpool's job to finalise a deal.
Several clubs including Premier League Bournemouth are interested in signing the 1.96m goalkeeper on loan, but the decision is up to Liverpool, according to the report.
Mamardashvili's contract at the Mestalla runs until 2027 and Fabrizio reports that Liverpool will have to shell out Valencia's €30m (£25m) asking price to seal the Georgian's transfer.
Exceptional goalkeeper
Mamardashvili has established himself between the sticks for Valencia and has been one of the best goalkeepers in Europe since joining from Georgian side Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021.
The 23-year-old also put in a remarkable performance at the recently concluded Euros, where he caught the eye with stunning saves to help Georgia qualify for the knockout round.
His move to Liverpool will further strengthen their goalkeeping ranks and Mamardashvili is seen as a long-term successor to 31-year-old Alisson.
Mamardashvili is a reliable passer of the ball and a commander in the 18-yard box; his qualities suit Arne Slot's style of play and his cat-like reflexes are also an asset to what he will bring to Merseyside if he joins the Reds this summer.
Liverpool also have Caoimhin Kelleher constantly knocking on the door for first-team action with a number of impressive saves for Liverpool in pre-season.
With the Reds in talks with Mamardashvili, it remains to be seen whether a potential sale of Kelleher would be considered and whether the Georgian would replace him in Slot's team.
