Zubimendi to Liverpool

Romano wrote:

“Liverpool are considering signing Martin Zubimendi as their new midfielder, as his contract includes a 60 million euro release clause. Discussions will continue between the clubs and on the part of the players.”

The journalist also says that Liverpool will have to persuade the midfielder to join the club and it will not be easy to do so as other clubs have tried but failed to lure him away from the Reale Arena.

After coming through the Basque club's youth system, Zubimendi has established himself as a talismanic figure for his childhood club in recent years.

After proving his qualities in La Liga, he was called up to play for Spain at the European Championships. The Spaniard was on the sidelines for most of the tournament but was called up to play the second half of the final against England following Rodri's injury. He put in impeccable performances and eventually helped his country win the competition.

The 25-year-old is a technically sound holding midfielder and is an ideal player to play in Slot's possession system. Therefore, he would be an excellent acquisition for Liverpool if they were to acquire him.
