Liverpool have begun to develop contingencies in case of Trent Alexander-ArnoldHis possible departure as a free agent at the end of the season. The contract renewal of the Melwood academy graduate has not yet been resolved and real Madrid are heavily linked to a move next year.
According to Caught Offside (h/t Sportskeeda)The Reds are drawing up a list of possible replacements and have shortlisted Sevilla full-back Juanlu Sánchez as a top target ahead of 2025.
Spanish also participates Arsenal'sand western hamThe radar is on the radar, the report adds, and Sevilla are apparently prepared to cash in if they receive an offer worth £21m.
Like Alexander-Arnold, Sánchez is capable of playing other roles further up the pitch as well as naturally being a right-back.
The 21-year-old has been one of the brightest talents in Sevilla's academy in recent years and, having also previously been linked with Real Madrid, Liverpool will need to act quickly to beat off the competition for his services.
A great signing for Liverpool
Juanlu Sánchez is still very young but has a high ceiling once he reaches his prime. He has a solid defensive game and is also a threat going forward, making him a modern and versatile full-back option. With a £21 million investment, Liverpool may be tempted to take the risk to see how he performs in the first division.
Despite adding the player to their wish list, Liverpool will no doubt do everything they can to keep Alexander-Arnold at the club, given that he is a candidate for the captaincy in the future and one of the best players in the world in assumption.
It will be interesting to see if a deal can be agreed for the 25-year-old as it would be devastating for Liverpool fans to see him leave on a free transfer next year.
But with Real Madrid being the pinnacle of football and presenting Alexander-Arnold with a completely new challenge, Liverpool are wise to keep their options open and Sánchez would be an excellent replacement.
