Liverpool They have been informed that they will not get a 'discount' to sign Sporting CP star Gonçalo Inacio this summer, according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
With Jurgen Klopp On the verge of leaving his managerial role at Anfield, Ruben Amorim has been widely mentioned as the Reds' top target to replace the German.
It has been suggested that the Sporting boss is willing to bring some players with him if he eventually signs for the Merseyside club before next campaign. Thus, several of the Lions' stars have been linked with a move to Anfield in recent times, including Inácio.
Now, speaking of GiveMeSport, Roman have reported that Liverpool are interested in signing Inácio and have been monitoring his development before making a possible attack in the next window.
However, the journalist claims that Inácio is going to be an “expensive” option for Liverpool, as Sporting are going to demand a fee of more than £52 million for their star and are unlikely to give a “discount.” to any club.
Inácio to Liverpool
So, Roman claims that although Liverpool are interested in buying him, they will find it difficult to lure the defender away from the José Alvalade Stadium in the next window.
Romano said:
“(Liverpool) have been following him for a long, long time, but at the same time he is an expensive player. The price will be more than 60 million euros. I don't think Sporting will give any club a discount for a player like Gonçalo Inácio, and the same goes for the others. That's why I think it could be one of the names, but at the moment this is not something advanced or concrete. “They’re just exploring it, that’s all.”
Inácio is a talented player and possesses great potential, so could be a shrewd signing for the Merseyside club if they buy him. However, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool ultimately opt to sign the Portuguese international this summer to bolster their defence.
Meanwhile, after returning to winning ways by defeating Fulham last weekend, Liverpool will take on their city rivals. Everton in it first division on Wednesday night.
