Trent Alexander-Arnold says trophies mean more to Liverpool than Manchester City due to financial differences.
Liverpool They are chasing a historic quadruple this season and they already have a trophy in the bag having won the Carabao Cup this season.
They are leaders of the Premier League, favorites to win the Europa League and are also in the race to win the FA Cup.
Trying to stop them in the league is City, who won the treble last season, the first English club to do so since manchester united in 1999.
AND pep guardiolaEngland's men have dominated football in England in recent years, winning five Premier League titles in the last six years.
But Alexander-Arnold has insisted that trophies mean more to Liverpool than City, in an astute criticism of the reigning champions.
speaking to fourfourtwoThe England international said: “It's tough.
“We are facing a machine built to win – that is the simplest way to describe City and their organisation.
“Looking back on this era, although they have won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fan base due to the financial situation of both clubs.
“The way both clubs have built their teams and the way we have done that probably means more to our fans.”
The title race looks set to go down to the wire this season, with just one point separating the top three Liverpool, City and Arsenal.
All three clubs have faced injury problems with Liverpool's absence Mohamed SalahThe city is missing Kevin de Bruyne and Arsenal miss Thomas Partey at points this season.
City might have shown some difficult form earlier in the season, but the return of De Bruyne and an attack Erling Haaland could be what Guardiola needs to propel them to success.
“Since the turn of the year, City have turned it on and are a difficult machine to stop,” Alexander-Arnold admitted.
“But we have shown in the past that we are capable of doing it and there is no reason why we can't match them this season.
“We are excited to be involved with City and know we are in a good position.
“I'm sure they will be motivated, as will we. It will be an exciting finale.”
