As reported by Bild, Liverpool are ready to do whatever it takes to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich this summer.
So far this season, the 29-year-old has struggled to consistently prove his worth for Der Rekordmeister alongside Leon Goretzka, leading to the emergence of Aleksandar Pavlović in Thomas Tuchel’s midfield.
With Kimmich being forced out to right-back in recent weeks, his form has drastically improved, but this is not where he sees his future. This has, therefore, perked the interest of many European clubs, aiming to lure the former RB Leipzig midfielder away from Bavaria.
Nevertheless, Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to sign Kimmich this summer, regardless of Jürgen Klopp’s departure. It is understood that the Premier League outfit are looking to add further reinforcement to their midfield and consider Kimmich to be an ideal option.
However, a separation between Kimmich and Bayern is not set in stone. The 29-year-old is not looking to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the campaign, and with Tuchel’s departure ensured, there is a likelihood that Kimmich will remain a Bayern player.
Whoever succeeds the former Chelsea head coach will undoubtedly look to utilise Kimmich next season. But losing Kimmich is not as damaging as Bayern once assumed it would be, and with Pavlović’s stock rising by the day, a sale this summer could be on the horizon.
