The 21-year-old’s brace took him two goals clear of his nearest rival in this season’s League One goalscoring charts on nine, with an impressive record of 10 goals in 14 matches in all competitions so far this term.
With Stockport already 2-1 up, Barry confidently stepped up from the penalty spot to send Corey Addai in the Royals goal the wrong way, before rounding off the scoring from close range midway through the second period.
The win saw Dave Challinor’s side rise to 10th in the table, with Barry having netted four goals in his last four outings.
