Loan round-up: Barry on target again

Louie Barry bagged his eighth goal of the season on Tuesday night, as Stockport County were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Northampton Town in League One.

The forward, who remains the joint top scorer in the division, stepped up in the 87th minute to give the Hatters the lead from the penalty spot, before Dave Challinor’s side were pegged back by a Tyler Magloire goal in the third minute of added time.

In the UEFA Champions League, there was a first appearance at Villa Park for Samuel Iling-Jr, albeit in a Bologna shirt, as he came off the bench for the Italian outfit to play the final 13 minutes in Villa’s 2-0 win.

Elsewhere in Europe, Leander Dendoncker played 90 minutes for Anderlecht last night, as they secured a 2-0 Europa League win at home to Ludogorets. The Belgian outfit are third in the league phase, as one of only three sides to have won their opening three matches.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden got another 90 minutes under his belt for Preston North End in their 2-2 home draw with Norwich City in the Championship, where there was also a seven-minute cameo off the bench for West Bromwich Albion’s Lewis Dobbin, in a 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

League One saw two Villans face off against each other in the same game on Tuesday night. Lino Sousa started and played 54 minutes as Bristol Rovers recorded a 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town, for whom defender Josh Feeney started and played 74 minutes. Tommi O’Reilly was an unused substitute for the Shrews. 

In League Two, Filip Marschall kept a clean sheet for Crewe Alexandra who claimed three points on the road with a 1-0 win at Fleetwood Town, to take them up to sixth in the table. Rico Richards was an unused substitute for Port Vale, who triumphed 1-0 at Harrogate Town to keep them top.

In South America last night, Philippe Coutinho played 69 minutes of Vasco da Gama’s 1-0 win at home to Cuiabá, with Rafael Paiva’s side 10th in the Série A table.

On Monday night, Enzo Barrenechea started and played 55 minutes as Valencia fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to Las Palmas.

And in the Premier League, Àlex Moreno played 78 minutes as he and his Nottingham Forest teammates kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. Forest return to action this evening, with an 8pm trip to Leicester City.
