Louie Barry bagged a goal and an assist for loan club Stockport County on Saturday, as the Hatters recorded an impressive 5-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in League One.
The 21-year-old helped put Dave Challinor’s side in the driving seat half an hour in, dashing to the byline and pulling back for Will Collar to open the scoring, before getting in on the act himself in the second period, robbing a Bolton defender of possession and finishing confidently past Nathan Baxter to put them 4-0 ahead just after the hour mark.
Barry now has 11 goals in 16 games in all competitions this season for Stockport, and sits joint top of the League One goalscoring charts with 10 in 15.
Elsewhere in League One, Josh Feeney played 90 minutes for Shrewsbury Town as they went down 2-0 at Burton Albion in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off. Tommi O’Reilly was introduced from the bench for the final 22 minutes of the same encounter for the Shrews. Lino Sousa was an unused substitute for Bristol Rovers in their 1-1 home draw with Lincoln City.
In the Championship, there was a 90-minute appearance for Kaine Kesler-Hayden as his Preston North End side lost 3-1 at Portsmouth, and in League Two, Filip Marschall played 90 minutes in goal for Crewe Alexandra in their 1-1 draw away at Walsall, while Rico Richards was withdrawn at half-time of Port Vale’s 1-0 defeat away at Gillingham.
In Europe, James Wright played 90 minutes in goal for Real Unión on Saturday, as they drew 2-2 at home to Ponferradina in the Primera Federación Group A, while Samuel Iling-Jr was an unused substitute for Bologna on Sunday, as his teammates secured a 3-2 Serie A victory on the road at Roma. In the Brazilian Série A on Saturday, Philippe Coutinho came on after 73 mins as Vasco Da Gama lost 3-0 away at Fortaleza.
Sunday’s other games saw Álex Moreno play 88 minutes of Nottingham Forest’s 3-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United in the Premier League, while in the Championship, Lewis Dobbin played just over half an hour from the bench in West Bromwich Albion’s 2-1 win at Hull City.
