Lucien Favre a potential interim option for Bayern Munich

kicker reports that Bayern Munich are considering interim options to replace Thomas Tuchel and former Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre is a candidate.

In recent weeks, Bayern have failed to hire both Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann as their manager for next season and so have turned to the candidates. Bayern have held talks with both Ralf Rangnick and Unai Emery about potentially taking over Bayern in the summer, while other names such as Roberto De Zerbi and Zinedine Zidane are not options. This has led Bayern to look at potential interim options.

Why?

In 2025, the coaching options may be greater. Bayern will want to try again to lure Alonso away from Bayer Leverkusen, whilst Jürgen Klopp and Sebastian Hoeneß could also be alternatives. Additionally, next season’s Champions League final is in the Allianz Arena and Bayern wants the best chance to make it into another final in their home stadium so next season cannot be viewed as a transition season.

So Lucien Favre and former Bayern manager Hansi Flick are both interim solutions, who would take charge for a year but with a success-related option to extend.
