Brentford striker Ivan Toney has continued his excellent goalscoring form following his return to football.

And he has spoken about his mentality after eight months out.

“What happened is behind us,” Toney said. “I can get in a bad mood and let it get to me, or I can focus on football and just do what I do.

“I was always going to come back stronger, that's the mentality I have.

“Obviously I missed being on the field, but also being in the locker room, the jokes, being with the boys, everything. You can't replicate that environment.

“When it's taken away from you, you miss it a lot more.”

Pep Guardiola has been talking about his team's lack of clean sheets in recent weeks.

“We love having a clean sheet,” he said. “All teams want it and we are no exception. We want to concede few (but) in the end we want to win games.

“Sometimes there are periods when you defend well and concede goals, other times you don't concede.

“Never since I arrived (at City) have I focused on the clean sheet, the clean sheet, the clean sheet.

“The players know it, but I don't go to them and say: 'Today clean sheet, clean sheet, clean sheet.'

“If you say 'clean sheet, clean sheet', they forget to play, they forget to defend and they forget what they have to do.

“What we have to do is play better and better and concede few, attack better and create more opportunities.

“This is always my goal. Every time I have a meeting with them or prepare for a game.”
