Man City breaks incredible club record and controversial goal gives them crucial victory

Manchester City achieved a very late victory against Wolves and in the process broke a club record.

It looked like Pep Guardiola's men were going to miss the chance to take advantage of Arsenal's defeat to Bournemouth, however, John Stones scored in the dying moments of added time to give them a 2-1 win.

The home team surprisingly took the lead in the seventh minute when Jorgen Strand Larsen deflected a cross from the right.

City responded in the 33rd minute with a magnificent right foot from defender Josko Gvardiol.

It looked like the match was ending in a 1-1 draw until Stones scored late with a header from a corner.

The goal left Wolves boss Gary O'Neil incensed as he was convinced Stones team-mate Bernardo Silva was in an offside position and therefore affected the goalkeeper's ability to score. the Wolves, José Sa, to save Stones' header.

Initially referee Chris Kavanagh overruled it, however the VAR told him to review the incident again.

And the VAR considered that Silva was not in the visual field and had no impact on the goalkeeper, so it overturned the decision not to concede the goal.

City are the only team yet to taste defeat in the league this season and their history goes back a long way.

The champions are unbeaten in their last 31 games, the longest streak in their league history.

This result puts City at the top of the Premier League, although this could be temporary as Liverpool will regain top spot with a win over Chelsea later on Sunday.
