Manchester City will have to pay £50million to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, talkSPORT understands.
marmot has caught the attention of major European clubs in the midst of a season of excellent form for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals in the German top flight, just one less than top scorer Harry Kane.
A further five came in the Europa League and DFB-Pokal, with the striker also providing 12 assists in all competitions.
Frankfurt are reluctant to lose their star, but could be tempted to sell him if his valuation is matched by an interested club such as City.
As reported in November, Bayern Munich have Marmoush on their list of possible successors to the 31-year-old Kane.
Arsenal They have also been linked with the Egypt international, but such a potential signing has raised questions.
The Gunners are in a third consecutive Premier League title challenge and will likely strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
However, Sun journalist Will Pugh wonders if Marmoush would be the answer for the title-chasing Gunners.
Pugh said of Hawksbee and Jacobs: “The 25-year-old Egyptian striker is in good form this year.
“He already went out and did the classic and said: 'I'm not even thinking about that, there's always speculation.'
“'I couldn't even tell you what I want to do in the future, all I'm going to do is commit to Eintracht and give my best while I'm a player here.'
“Liverpool, PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) and AC Milan also like him, but again, Arsenal, the number nine position, is a perennial problem.
“For me, I don't know what you two think, I feel like if you want to cross the line, you need to make a truly elite level signing at that position.
“With all due respect, he has good numbers, but playing for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, it doesn't seem like the level of quality that Arsenal should achieve.”
Marmoush would join Erling Haaland as another City forward if he signed for them ahead of rumored rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola's side could also be considering reinforcements this month after a struggling first five months in the Premier League.
City are sixth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Liverpool, despite having won their last two games.
However, the defending champions are just two points off the top four as they prepare for the second half of the season.
