According to a Portuguese media One Ball, manchester united are preparing an initial bid worth £50m plus bonuses to sign Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Geovany Quenda next summer.
The Red Devils tied 1-1 first division Draw against Ipswich Town in the first game under coach Rubén Amorim. There was a lot of promise in the first half, but the club struggled to control the game after the break.
Ipswich could have easily won the match had it not been for André Onana's splendid saves. Amorim will want to reinforce the squad with players who know their system and One Ball affirm that Quenda is in his transfer Radar.
The Portuguese gave the 17-year-old the breakthrough at Sporting earlier this campaign. The youngster has consolidated his club's right-back position and Amorim is interested in bringing him to Old Trafford next summer.
One Ball reports that United are preparing to pay £50m plus bonuses for the highly-rated wunderkind. He has an £83m release clause in his contract, but Sporting are willing to do business with United's planned proposal.
Huge potential
Quenda has adapted to the full-back system from Sporting's youth system and has quickly become a mainstay of the first team as well. Amorim gave him his debut at the age of 17 and he has seized his opportunity with both hands.
The teenager has 2 goals and 2 assists this season. He has been brilliant with his dribbling and work rate in the final third. Quenda has also worked hard on defense with numerous duels and recoveries made.
Amorim recently played with Amad Diallo at right back and praised him for his performance. However, Quenda is much more talented than Diallo and has a higher ceiling. A reunion could be on the cards next summer.
United may not be able to afford it in January due to PSR spending problems, but there is also a restriction due to Brexit. The Red Devils cannot acquire the services of foreign players under the age of 18, but can negotiate a pre-transfer agreement.
Chelsea and city of manchester They have done so regularly over the last year and United could look to negotiate a summer deal for Quenda this winter to gain an advantage over other European teams.
