manchester united They are supposedly in a battle with Arsenal on a deal to sign Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens, according to Caught offside.
Andre Onana has been the Red Devils' starting goalkeeper after joining from Inter Milan last year. Altay Bayindir was bought from Fenerbahce to replace the Cameroonian international.
But recently it has been reported that Ruben Amorim wants a new goalkeeper, who could put pressure on Onana for the first team spot, as the Portuguese coach believes Bayindir is not capable enough to do so.
Now, Caught offsideThey claim that Man Utd have expressed interest in Lammens and have been following his development in recent times.
Royal Antwerp would be willing to cash in on him if they receive an offer of around £8 million, however, buying him will not be easy as Arsenal are also interested in signing him.
Battle
Man Utd have had a terrible first half of this season and after the 2-0 defeat against Newcastle UnitedEditThey are now in 14th place in the first division table, placing itself only seven points from the relegation zone.
Amorim have even admitted that they are currently in a relegation battle, after accumulating just three points in their last six league games.
So Man Utd could do with strengthening several areas of the team, not just the goalkeeping department. Onana had an average debut campaign at Old Trafford and has had an inconsistent first half of this season.
On the other hand, Arsenal will have to sign a new goalkeeper to support David Raya next season if they eventually opt to part ways with Neto. The Brazilian joined the club on deadline day loan last summer, but considering he is already 35 years old, they may opt not to sign him permanently.
Lammens is a 6ft 3in tall player and has had a brilliant first half of this season with Royal Antwerp, keeping four clean sheets with 80% saves in 19 Pro League appearances.
He could be a smart acquisition for Arsenal or Man Utd if either club buys him. However, it will be interesting to see if the north London club or the record Premier League champions ultimately opt to sign him.
