manchester united have received a boost by signing Dinamo Zagreb star Martin Baturina after his decision to reject a summer move to real Madrid.
The 21-year-old is one of the best young midfielders in Croatian football and is expected to face a bigger challenge away from Zagreb at the end of the current campaign.
Madrid are following him closely on the recommendation of Luka Modric, but it seems that the youngster has rejected the opportunity to sign for the European champions.
according to Patrick BergerThe Madrid giants recently offered the talented playmaker a five-year deal and revealed their plans to send him on loan to Spain for two seasons.
However, this was not acceptable to the highly skilled ace. Baturina prefers to join a top-level European club, where he can become an important member starting next summer.
The news is a big boost for several clubs, including Man United, Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid. Baturina reportedly has a particular preference for moving to the Bundesliga next season.
Zagreb are willing to consider his departure for a fee in the region of £21m.
Big boost
United made a massive signing last summer. Leny Yoro was touted to join Real Madrid for some time but was eventually convinced to move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils offered a significant salary to the French prodigy compared to Los Blancos. They also guaranteed him a regular starting spot from the start which Madrid did not secure for him.
United now have the opportunity to repeat the feat with Baturina. The Croatian is an attacking midfielder by profession and has already accumulated 2 goals and 7 assists in 17 games this season.
He has registered 2 goal contributions in the champions league where his performances have been praised.
Zagreb suffered a tough 9-2 defeat to Bayern Munich earlier this campaign, but Manuel Neuer highlighted Baturina's performance. The legendary goalkeeper said he was a 'strong player'.
New United manager Ruben Amorim has a good track record working with emerging talent and his presence could boost United's chances of signing Baturina ahead of other European rivals.
