According to journalist Ben Jacobs, manchester united are among the clubs interested in signing RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils had a disappointing 2023/24 campaign in the first division where they finished eighth with 60 points. The club still qualified for the European League through its FA Cup success, but they need more firepower next season.
Olmo has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Jacobs He confirms that the Red Devils have noticed him. He added that there is a £51m release clause in the attacker's contract which is only valid until mid-July.
He said Givemesport: “It has been examined by Manchester United and there is a release clause which I believe amounts to €60m which will come into effect this summer, but only until mid-July. And it's not just Liverpool who have scouted the player.
“It's Manchester United, city of manchesterBayern Munich, some also say Barcelona also. But at the moment, there is no indication that Liverpool are making progress on that front.”
Injury concerns
Olmo has been a fantastic player for Leipzig over the past few seasons. He has the ability to operate from the right wing, the left wing or the number 10 position. The Spaniard has also played from the false 9 position on several occasions for Spain.
The 26-year-old has impressed with his ability to create chances with his quality distribution, but the big question is whether any club would be willing to pay £51m for him, considering his injury concerns over the years.
Olmo has missed an average of 20 games due to injuries in each of his three seasons at Leipzig. This is a big red flag for any club looking to secure his services. United, in particular, must be careful after what happened last season.
The Red Devils had to constantly change their defensive combinations due to several injury setbacks. Mason Mount, who was hired from Chelsea To increase creativity, he also spent most of the season on the sidelines with muscle problems.
Olmo has struggled to stay unscathed due to the high-pressure style of play in Leipzig. With United having a similar system under command Erik ten HagIt would be better if they avoided an approach by the versatile attacker.
