Pau Cubarsi has become a vital player for Barcelona this season despite only being 17 at the start of 2024.
His rise to prominence has been superb for La Blaugrana with Xavi Hernandez relying on him as a first-choice center in key matches.
This led to a first call-up to Spain's senior team and is expected to be included in the panel for Euro 2024.
However, despite his importance to Xavi and Barcelona, the teenager's future could take a different path in 2023.
Cubarsi joined the youth of Barcelona created in 2018, after four years Geronaand the latter wanted to resign last summer.
According to reports from Sports newspaperthe sports director of Girona, Quique Carcel, met with the representatives of Cubarsi to try to make an agreement.
Part of the agreement would have included Cubarsi potential to pass Manchester Cityas part of the collaboration of the Girona City Football Group.
Girona had already reported Cubarsi's performances to City, but the defender rejected an exit from Barcelona.
