Kevin De Bruyne is just two assists away from breaking Lionel Messi's assist record over the last ten years.
And the 32-year-old could find himself top of the table after Sunday's clash against manchester united at the Etihad.
DeBruyne He has been sensational for Manchester City since returning from a hamstring injury in early 2024, contributing 12 assists in just two months.
Four of those assists came Tuesday night. FA Cup victory in Luton, where Erling Haaland benefited from the Belgian master's mastery.
He has taken his tally to 202 assists in all competitions since the 2013/14 season.
Only Messi (203) has more than the former Chelsea player in clubs in the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.
But De Bruyne could overtake the 2022 World Cup winner provided he puts in another clinic against the Red Devils.
It is a club he thrives against, and the player has provided six assists in his last four games against United.
If he manages to equal or surpass Messi's record, he would do so in 16 fewer games, with the Inter Miami forward reaching his figure in 458 games.
De Bruyne, third on the all-time Premier League assists chart, is also closing in Cesc Fabregas in second place.
Fabregas' tally of 111 is just five ahead of De Bruyne, who racked up 100 assists faster than any other player in top-flight history.
But De Bruyne still has a way to go if he wants to eclipse Ryan Giggs' haul of 162 in the Premier League.
The former Wolfsburg midfielder has revealed that he is delighted with his form, saying: “Since I came back, my hamstring for surgery has been great, so I'm really happy about that.
“But I know that if you don't play for six months and come back, you're going to have problems everywhere. It's normal and it's okay.”
He added: “I'm just trying to do my job. A day like (at Luton) helps. I feel like I'm back in a good way after being away for so long.”
“I couldn't ask for anything more because after six months you don't know what can happen, but I feel like I'm back on the right path. I'm happy about that.
“I wasn't worried, but I didn't expect to come back this way, if I'm honest.”
