Football Transfers has reported that manchester united are “interested in signing” Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, who the Germans value at around £34m.

Erik ten Hagwho recently secured his job for the near future, wants to bring in a central midfielder, a defender and a striker at Old Trafford this summer.

casemiro He is expected to leave for Saudi Arabia amid huge interest in his services from the Middle East and Christian Eriksen is expected to follow the Brazilian out the door, the report added.

Goreztka's name has been “written” to partner Kobbie Mainoo in central midfield and the Red Devils are set to sign an experienced name despite targeting younger faces, according to Football Transfers' exclusive piece.

Goretzka “has been made available for a move” this summer by Bayern Munich along with other team-mates as part of their own review, and Man Utd are showing strong interest.

Goretzka, an interesting candidate for Man Utd

With Manchester United losing two experienced figures in Casemiro and Eriksen, Goretzka's signing could prove fruitful as he has a rich pedigree under his belt from a brilliant career at Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old is a Champions League winner and has also won the Bundesliga title several times throughout his career. His physical presence in midfield would complement well with Mainoo's clever footwork.

Goretzka is a great modern box-to-box midfielder who is solid defensively and has a powerful shot from outside the box that would make him an occasional goal threat for the Red Devils as well.

Admittedly, he did not enjoy his best season with Bayern Munich in 2023/24 and was left out of the German squad for Euro 2024 as a result.

However, the just-concluded season was a surprising aberration for Goretzka and most of his clubmates, as they finished third in the Bundesliga behind Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart.

There is no indication whether Manchester United plan to start talks for Goretzka, but their interest is nascent at the moment and no concrete negotiations have begun with the player or Bayern Munich.

Therefore, they could first wait to seal Casemiro's departure before bringing in a replacement.
