According to Sky Germany, Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.
It had previously been reported that the Premier League outfit were monitoring the Dutchman’s situation at the Allianz Arena. However, the record champions have since made it clear that they are willing to offload de Ligt this summer, offering United the opportunity to lure the 24-year-old away.
Nevertheless, no agreement has yet been reached between United and de Ligt, as well as between the two clubs. Despite this, due to Erik ten Hag’s admiration for the defender, de Ligt is keen on pursuing a move to Old Trafford.
It is understood that the Red Devils have placed a five-year deal on the table for the Dutchman, but he has yet to give United the green light.
With Hiroki Ito’s signing having already been confirmed by Der Rekordmeister, de Ligt’s position at Bayern under new head coach Vincent Kompany has already been diminished. On top of this, with the record champions still looking to bring Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah to Bavaria, it is clear to see that the Dutchman does not have a future at the club anymore.
