As reported via Bild, Manchester United are considering appointing former Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić as Erik ten Hag’s successor should they decide to part ways with the Dutchman.
It is understood that ten Hag is under significant pressure at Old Trafford, having overseen United’s worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign—gathering just eight points from seven league games.
As well as this, the report explains that Terzić has a number of supporters within United’s hierarchy, but it remains unlikely that he will be the club’s number one option.
This is because Terzić would face considerable competition for the top job at Old Trafford, with Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, and Ruud van Nistelrooy the current favourites to replace ten Hag.
Nevertheless, the 41-year-old does have experience in the Premier League, having been part of Slaven Bilić’s coaching staff at West Ham United between 2015 and 2017.
As well as this, Terzić can boast experience of guiding Dortmund to a Champions League final, where they were unfortunate not to walk away with European football’s most prestigious prize.
Regardless, there is still no guarantee that the Red Devils will part ways with ten Hag due to a reportedly sky-high severance package.
It is believed the Dutcham would depart the Theatre of Dreams with a €25 million payout, meaning that those at the club are willing to offer the head coach more time to turn United’s fortunes around.
