Manchester United fans are fed up with Rasmus Hojlund after seeing what he did during the Wolves defeat.
Manchester United fans seemed to be fed up with Rasmus Hojlund for losing his cool with a team-mate during the defeat to Wolves.
Hojlund threw a tantrum with Amad Diallo when he failed to pass the ball to him when he was just outside the penalty area at Molineux.
Diallo, who has been the bright spark of the incipient Ruben Amorim was at United, he instead chose to shoot.
The red devils ended up losing 2-0 to the Premier League strugglers, who changed manager this month.
The incident with Hojlund summed up the frustration fans feel.
One follower said on X: “He's not even close to being good enough to do this.”
Another added: “He spends most of his time jumping around like a little kid.”
A third wrote: “Marked by two players a foot away from him and he wants to cry because he can't run for his life.”
The £72m striker had just 14 touches on the ball and failed to get a shot on target before being replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.
However, Hojlund was defended by the former Liverpool and Man United striker. michael owen and pointed out the lack of service that the forward is receiving.
“I say (United) are not that bad at the back, but I mean they play to defend, they don't commit everyone in attack,” Owen told Premier League Productions.
“I look at the Manchester United team half the time there (against Wolves) and they have three players marking one at the back, you would never see a Liverpool team doing that, they would all go man for man. and if they have spare men, they would push them into the attack zones.
“That's probably what he (Amorim) is working on, but right now, even if they didn't concede many goals, I wouldn't get carried away because the team isn't working.
“They are absolutely horrible going forward, I can't think of any chance they had today (against Wolves).
“Hojlund… I am very sorry for the boy. In that first half, he received six passes, four of them from defenders, so in other words, four of them are probably hopefuls, long passes, and two passes in the first half from a player who would like to receive a pass. And you're supposed to do something with it.
“I can't judge him as a player, I don't know if he's good or bad, and that's the most damning thing you can say because after watching him for a year, I feel like he's playing in possibly the toughest place.” Position in the Premier League to play at the moment (Manchester United centre-forward), I never thought I'd say that.
“Manchester United's center forward used to be the dream of every center forward in the world, he scored dozens and dozens of goals, and now he is a ready-made chalice. And I never thought I'd say that.”
The incident highlights several problems facing manager Rubén Amorim at United.
The Red Devils are closer on points to the relegation zone than the Champions League places heading into their final game of a topsy-turvy 2024 at home against in-form Newcastle.
“Right now, we just have to survive and buy some time to work on the team,” Amorim said.
“We already knew it. I start this job and you start with the team, a new idea, without time to train, with many games, difficult games.
“We already knew it, so it's a long road, as I said on the first day. We have to continue and we have to fight against these bad moments because this is part of football.”
After telling Amorim that he cannot think about European qualification at the moment, he said: “No, no, no, no.
“We have to work on a lot of things at our club, on and off the field, so let's focus on every game, every time and use every minute of training and game to improve the team.”
