Manchester United initiate contact with Thomas Tuchel

Manchester United are interested in appointing Thomas Tuchel as their next manager, should they part ways with Erik ten Hag. That’s according to Christian Falk, who reports that the 50-year-old would also be interested in taking the United job and is ready for a new challenge in the summer.

It’s known for some time that Bayern Munich and Tuchel will part ways at the end of the season. The Rekordmeister’s search for a successor is difficult with both Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann signing contract extensions with Bayer Leverkusen and the DFB respectively, their two primary candidates.

That leaves Bayern Munich in a difficult position with Unai Emery today confirming he is ‘100 percent’ focused on Aston Villa, while the club don’t appear to be sold on Brighton’s Roberto de Zerbi. Lucien Favre has been named as a potential interim, while Ralf Rangnick would also be an option.

Thomas Tuchel to Manchester United?

In addition to what Falk reported, Kicker also report that Tuchel has already been contacted by Manchester United. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a big admirer of Tuchel and has already asked about the possibility of appointing the German, should they separate with Ten Hag at the end of the season.

But with a Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid coming up, Tuchel’s focus right now is on that.
