Manchester United legend Gary Neville takes credit for key change at Old Trafford that still exists today

Gary Neville has revealed how he told Manchester United to play 'This Is the One' as their exit music at Old Trafford.

The former defender played 602 games with the First division giants and served as their captain for five years after Roy Keane's departure in 2005.

During that time, United won three Premier League titles, three League Cups and the Champions League in a brilliant run of years.

No doubt Neville He would have had a huge influence on the field, but it seems he had an impact off it as well.

Lemons are part of the band's logo and also appear on the badge, with “This Is The One” written at the bottom.

When asked about it, Neville explained to Jamie Carragher, Keane and Ian Wright: “United come out for 'This Is The One'.”

Carragher then asked about reports that he spoke to the club about what music they should play when the teams take the field at Old Trafford, and Neville said: “Yes.

“Being captain I spoke to the club secretary. Before it was like a Rocky song or something like that (Fanfare For Rocky), do you (Keane) remember it?”

He added: “Did I feel like there was no connection with the song we came out with, 2005/06? I think it was the best thing I did as captain.”

'This Is The One' has remained protest music ever since, and the song has been played at Old Trafford for almost two decades.

The Stones Roses lead singer is a big fan and United season ticket holder, and the tune was a good choice for Neville.

Fans will be able to hear it again this Sunday when they host West Ham in a crucial Premier League match.
