Manchester United look to poach another key executive as Sir Jim Ratcliffe's restructure continues
Manchester United want to appoint Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox as part of a shake-up of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's board, talkSPORT understands.
Wilcox just left city of manchester for the Saints last summer, but comes highly recommended by United's recently appointed chief executive Omar Berrada.
United is looking for a recruiting expert to work Daniel Ashworthwhich is Ratcliffe's main objective to become its new sporting director.
Manchester City wanted to retain Wilcox but the 52-year-old rejected a late offer to encourage him to stay at the club.
Wilcox is credited with helping develop rising stars such as Phil FodenRico Lewis and ChelseaCole Palmer during his six years as director.
Wilcox, a Premier League champion with Blackburn in 1995, would provide United with another smart appointment if he does indeed move forward.
The 'red devils' have sealed the incorporation of Omar Berrada from Manchester City as executive director, and he will arrive at the end of the season.
Ashworth, meanwhile, is firmly on United's radar after successful spells at Brighton and Newcastle.
But club bosses are happy to wait for Ashworth's arrival rather than pay a huge compensation fee, meaning Wilcox could land at Old Trafford before him.
United's structural restructuring comes after Ratcliffe's deal to take a 25 per cent stake in the club.
