According to the Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, manchester united have started talks with the representative of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee during a summer transfer.
The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in recent weeks, but there has been no verbal agreement due to the demands of agent Kia Joorabchian.
Plettenberg now reveals that Man United have started concrete talks with Joorabchian over Zirkzee and have a chance to snatch the deal away from Milan.
The Red Devils are working on a verbal agreement with the coach Erik ten Hag interested in signing the former Bayern player.
Quality forward
United spent a lot of money to sign him Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last summer. The Dane got off to a slow start first division season, but finally found form early in the year. He finished the campaign with 16 goals in all competitions.
Hojlund has the makings to become an elite long-term shooter, but the Red Devils may want another young forward with similar potential. Zirkzee would be a perfect candidate to compete for places with the Copenhagen graduate.
The 23-year-old has the attributes of a modern centre-forward. He is very mobile in the final third of the field and likes to get into deeper attacking positions to create opportunities. He is also fantastic with his dribbling and has a quick change of pace.
Zirkzee is yet to find consistency in front of goal, but United could still seek his signature, considering his poor form. £34 million termination clause. The main issue of concern could be the agent commission, which appears to be significant.
Joorabchian is considering a huge package of £12.6 million for the transfer. United are no strangers to paying high brokerage fees to agents, but it remains to be seen whether they meet the demands of the player's representative.
A transfer could eventually depend on United paying a higher fee than Milan to Joorabchian.
