Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford's preferred destination revealed, but January move looks unlikely
Marcus Rashford is looking to move to Spain with Barcelona at the top of his wish list, talkSPORT understands.
The Manchester United striker faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after revealing last month that he is 'Ready for a new challenge'.
talkSPORT understands United are open to offers Regarding Rashford, club bosses feel that parting ways is the best solution for all parties.
Rubén Amorim had left the 27-year-old out of the squad for four consecutive games before being called to the bench in the recent 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.
With the January transfer window now underway, talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook provided an update on RashfordThe situation on Thursday's Breakfast show.
A move to Catalonia is their dream destination, although they cannot register new players for FFP reasons, and the club recently had to remove Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor from their registration list.
Speaking about Rashford, Crook said: “Rashford would like to join Barcelona on any team.
“But they can't register new players.
“I understand that his preferred destination would be Spain and therefore Barcelona could potentially be one of the clubs he would be interested in signing for.”
Rashford was reported to have teamed up with agency CAA Stellar as he looks to find a new club.
That is the same agency that helped negotiate Gareth Bale's move from Tottenham to Real Madrid in 2013.
However, Rashford has himself close that claim.
He posted on Instagram: “A lot of fake stories have been written in recent weeks, but this is getting ridiculous – I've never met with any agency and I have no plans to…”
Although Crook believes that the player's team has spoken to agencies about his future.
“I think he has linked several (agencies) including Stellar to negotiate an exit,” he noted.
“He's been represented by his brother, Dwaine Maynard, I think if there's any movement, whoever makes the deal, Maynard will certainly want to be a big part of it.
“Stellar is one of the largest agencies in the country. So while Rashford himself may not have spoken to Stellar, I have it on good authority that people acting on his behalf have had those conversations.”
Crook then proceeded to detail what options Rashford might have if he leaves the Theater of Dreams this month.
He said: “I wonder if he regrets some of that now. They told me that they don't like it very much Saudi Arabia.
“I'm not sure there are many Premier League clubs lining up to get Rashford.
“I know Stellar has a close relationship with Tottenham, so maybe that's something to keep in mind.
“I think Spain would attract him, but we all know about the financial crisis that Barcelona is going through. It is a really difficult situation, we are all worried.
“Go out and do that interview with henry winter“has not helped Man United in terms of negotiating position.”
Next up for United is an away clash against rivals Liverpool, who sit top of the table, 23 points clear of Amorim's men.
It remains to be seen whether Rashford will feature in the squad and where the New Year will take him.
