Manchester United suffers a Microsoft IT outage and the club is forced to postpone ticket sales due to an ongoing issue

An outage on Microsoft's IT system has prevented Manchester United from going ahead with the club's long-awaited ticket release.

Several industries around the world have been hit by major disruptions to their IT networks, with cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike saying a “flaw” in one of its software updates affected Windows operating systems.

Transport, banking and retail are among the many sectors whose systems have been brought to a standstill, and football clubs have also been battling problems, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils had planned to put their tickets for next season's Premier League on sale on Friday morning.

However, this morning the club confirmed that the sale will have to be delayed until midday.

Manchester United have since stated that ticket sales will go on sale on Monday 22 July.

A statement on Manchester United Matchday X Report read: “Today’s ticket sales have been postponed until 10am on Monday 22nd July.

“This is due to ongoing technical issues caused by a global outage of Microsoft servers.

“We regret any inconvenience caused.”

Manchester United's ticketing website remains unavailable at the time of writing.

Crystal Palace and Brentford are among other Premier League clubs who say they have been experiencing similar problems.

Championship sides Middlesbrough and Coventry are also struggling.

The 2024/25 Premier League season gets underway on August 16, with Manchester United kicking off the season with a home clash against Fulham.
