Manchester United are unhappy with Fulham over a video they posted on social media suggesting captain Bruno Fernandes faked an injury, talkSPORT understands.

The clip of United's 2-1 defeat on Saturday on Fulham's official TikTok account showed Fernandes rolling in pain to comedy music with the caption: “Glad he's okay.”

United believe they fueled the narrative around Fernandes' perceived histrionics when they claim he was in fact genuinely injured and could have missed Wednesday's FA Cup win at Nottingham Forest.

Fernandes played the entire match at the City Ground and set up Casemiro's late winner before being filmed limping back to the team bus.

United coach Erik ten Hag later qualified the criticism of his captain 'pathetic' and said Forest players deliberately attacked him knowing he was not fully fit.

He said: “I'm not saying what it is, but it was a serious injury. I see social media criticizing it. It's pathetic.”

“He has a serious injury, he continued playing on Saturday and then also fought to be part of this game.

“He has a very high pain threshold. Last year he did something similar against the Spurs and I think in the semi-final.

“It shows his leadership. You saw that Forest was targeting him.

“There were a lot of fouls on him. You see that when he receives the ball, they are very tight with him.”

Portuguese is a physical concern for Sunday's Manchester derby.

United sources say the video actually demonstrates Fernandes' dedication and leadership as he has never missed a game for the club through injury.
